Gregory Scott Cornell
Memorial services for Gregory Scott Cornell, of Geneva, Fla.,formerly of Decatur, Ill., were Tuesday, Sept. 19, at ScovillClubhouse in Decatur.
Mr. Cornell, 56, died Sept. 14, 2006.
Survivors are his wife, Angela; his daughter, Tia Davis, ofWesson, and Cara Ebbeler, of Geneva ; his sons, Christopher andJason, of Geneva; his sons-in-law, Chris Davis and Sheldon Ebbeler;his three sisters, Dee Dee, Judy and Patty; his mother, Dorcas; hisfather, Gary; and his three grandchildren, Seth and Zoe Davis, andAryssa Ebbeler. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother,grandfather and uncle.
Scott was a renaissance man of sorts, a jack of all trades. Hehad the answer to all your problems and a smile to go along withit. He provided a sense of stability and security to all thosearound him and had an infectious joy that he spread to everyone heknew.
Scott revolutionized the mental health industry in theWashington D.C., and Illinois area as a health care builder andprovider for those individuals with developmental disabilities.Through his work with the developmentally disabled, he touchedthousands of lives and helped improve their quality of life. Nearlyeveryone who came into contact with him was sure of the quality ofhis heart. He will be sorely missed by his friends, family and evenbrief acquaintances.
To continue with the spirit of his generosity, Scott and hisfamily have set up the Cornell Caicos Collegiate Fund fordisadvantaged youth on the island of Middle Caicos in the Turks andCaicos Islands.
