Cathedral surpasses Enterprise

NATCHEZ — Cathedral quarterback Patrick McDonough launched anaerial bombardment on the Enterprise Fighting Yellow Jackets Fridaynight at D’Evereaux Stadium. McDonough threw four touchdown passesin leading the Green Wave to a 41-21 triumph over Enterprise inRegion 4-1A football action. He also ran for a touchdown.

Cathedral, coached by Ken Beesley, improved its record to 4-2overall and 4-1 in region play. With the loss, coach Roe Burns sawhis Jackets fall to 1-6 and 1-4.

The Greenies exploded for 4 first-quarter touchdowns to put thegame out of doubt in the opening 12 minutes of action. McDonoughhit Lee Harris for 23 yards and Daniel Jenkins for 25-yard TDpasses. McDonough also ran 6 yards for a score as Cathedral took a27-0 lead.

Enterprise scored in the second quarter on a 62-yard pass fromquarterback Rodney Barker to Zach Jackson. Elliott McKee kicked theextra point. In the third quarter, Barker ran for a TD.

In the fourth quarter, Cody Brister scrambled 9 yards for aJacket touchdown. He passed to McKee on the 2-point conversiontry.

Offensively, Enterprise was led by Chris Moak with 19 rushes for92 yards. Brister rushed 3 times for 20 yards. MT Martin rushed 3times for 13 yards and caught 1 pass for 13 yards.

Barker completed 2 of 3 passes for 74 yards and a TD. Bristerwas 2-for-2 for 57 yards.

The Jackets had 8 first downs. Barker punted 6 times for a26.3-yard average.

On defense, Moak led the Jackets with 13 tackles. TravisLeggett had 10 tackles. McKee had 7 stops and Barker6.

Enterprise begins a 2-week homestand, hosting regionpowers Biloxi Mercy Cross and Gulfport St. John, Oct. 13 and 20respectively.
