A memorial service for J.B. Watts Sr. will be held at 11 a.m. onSaturday, Nov. 4, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church on Highway84 in Quentin with burial in the church cemetery. Pastor WilliePorter will officiate. Marshall Funeral Home is in charge of localarrangements.

Mr. Watts died Oct. 28, 2006. He was born in Quentin, inFranklin County on July 5, 1921, to Lee and Geneva RanciferWatts.

He attended St. Paul Church Elementary School and graduated fromAlexander High School in Brookhaven. He served four years in theU.S. Army during World War II. He was employed with Columbus LumberCompany for over 20 years and then later worked at and retired fromFranklin Memorial Hospital. He attended St. Paul M.B. Church wherehe served as an usher, groundskeeper and various other jobs, untilhe moved to Sacramento, Calif. He was a devoted husband and fatherwhose hobbies included distillery, fishing, hunting, gardening andbaseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 36 years,Louise Watts; his brother Carey Watts; and his sister, Rosie LeeDaniels.

Survivors are his children, Beatrice Rancifer of Picayune, AliceWinston of Jackson, J.C. Winston (Jennifer) of Madison, Ala., J.B.Watts Jr. (Ruth Ann) of Lexington, N.C., Loretta Franklin ofSacramento, Calif., and Rickie Watts of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; hissister, Laverne Lee, of Picayune; his goddaughters Laura Bryant andCarrie Lewis; close family friends, Alicia Reed, Dawn Coyle andCassie Hutchinson; his 21 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren anda host of other loving nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
