O.C. ‘Tyler’ Monte

Services for O.C. “Tyler” Monte, a lifelong resident of Natchez,are 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Assumption Catholic Church withburial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Father David O’Connor willofficiate. Laird Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is today from 5 until 7 p.m. at the church, where aprayer service will be held at 7 p.m.

Mr. Monte, 86, died Oct. 29, 2006, at Natchez Regional MedicalCenter. He was born on May 2, 1920, to Adolph and Carmella CarazzaMonte.

He was awarded the Purple Heart for his service during theinvasion of Normandy in World War II. He retired from his job as atire builder with Armstrong Tire Company after 33 years. He lovedto hunt, fish and ride horses. He enjoyed vegetable gardening.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his four sisters; onebrother and his grandson, Charles “Chip” Lofton.

Survivors are his wife, Martha Belle Huffman Monte, of Natchez;his daughters and their husbands, Martha and Bob Allbritton, ofBrookhaven, Carrie and John Boyte, of Natchez, Mildred “Weese” andHarvey Prather, of Meadville, and Mary and Buddy Risinger, ofCarthage, Texas; his grandchildren, Don Boyte, Melissa Martin,Stephanie Wilson, Michael Springs, Lynn Burlison and ElizabethWells; and his 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Freddie Gamberi, Chad Gamberi, Ferdi PassbackJr., Don Boyte, Lynn Burlison and Billy Martin Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are Michael Springs and Charles Wilson.
