Lincoln County’s Region 4-1A football teams wrap up regularseason play Friday night, with Bogue Chitto as the only teamadvancing to the state football playoffs next week. Enterprisevisits Bogue Chitto at Troy Smith Field and West Lincoln travels toGulf Coast Community College in Perkinston to square off GulfportSt. John. The games begin at 7 p.m.

The Brookhaven Panthers (Reg. 6 No. 3) enter the Class 4Aplayoffs at Vancleave (Reg. 7 No. 2).

The Class 2A Loyd Star Hornets (2-8, 0-5) finished its seasonlast Friday with a 40-0 loss to Amite County and did not make theplayoffs.

The 1A state playoffs begin Friday, Nov. 10.

Bogue Chitto (5-5, 5-3) clinched the No. 4 spotin Region 4-1A weeks ago. Coached by Gareth Sartin, the Bobcats(5-5, 5-3) dropped a tough 44-36 region contest to the CathedralGreen Wave last week.

The Enterprise Yellow Jackets (2-8, 2-6) fell to Dexter 26-13.The Yellow Jackets are coached by Roe Burns.

In the loss to Cathedral, Bogue Chitto quarterback Seth Avantsrushed the football 19 times for 244 yards and 3 touchdowns. Hecompleted 11 of 28 passes for 146 yards and was intercepted 3times.

Contributing to the Bobcat ground game was Cole Laird with 14rushes for 106 yards. Mario Addison led the receivers with 6receptions for 93 yards. Making 4 catches for 41 yards was KeyounaPerkins.

Defensively, Scott Brown led the Bobcats with 9 tackles.

“This is the best Bogue Chitto team they have had in the last 4or 5 years,” said Burns. “Their quarterback (Avants) throws theball well. Their receivers catch well. The line blocks well. Theyare going to outweigh us 25 pounds per man.”

Burns said with a break or two against Mt. Olive and Cathedral,Bogue Chitto could have finished on top in the region.

“The Bobcats run a 50 front on defense,” explained Burns. “Theyhave a good team. They just didn’t get the breaks against Mt. Oliveand Cathedral. They may be No.1 instead of No. 4.

” It’s going to be a good game,” added Burns. “Congratulationsto them going to the playoffs. Coach Sartin does a good job.”

Chris Moak led Enterprise, in the loss to Dexter with 25 rushesfor 110 yards and a touchdown. Making 6 carries for 33 yards wasJohnathon Martin. Quarterback Rodney Barker completed 3 of 13passes for 40 yards. Zach Jackson led the receivers with 2 catchesfor 33 yards.

On defense for the Jackets, Jake Walker collected 9 tackles.Chris Moak and Peter Aleman finished with 7 stops.

In last year’s contest, Enterprise knocked off Bogue Chitto28-18.

West Lincoln (1-9, 1-7) is coming off a tough49-0 beating at the hands of Region 4-1A powerhouse Biloxi MercyCross. Coach Brooks Burns’ Bears (1-9, 1-7) face a long road tripto Perkinston to face the St. John Eagles (4-6, 3-5) in the finalgame for both teams.

Last Friday, St. John rolled over Stringer 35-14.

In the loss to Mercy Cross, Lee Jones directed West Lincoln’srunning game with 17 carries for 73 yards. Following with 12 rushesfor 61 yards was Kevin Lofton. Picking up 40 yards on 4 carries wasJamie Byrd.

The Bear defense was led by Jones with 10 tackles. With 6 stopswas Jamie Rushing.

Last year, St. John put away West Lincoln 48-26.
