Man run over; woman charged with murder

Brookhaven Police are investigating a Friday night trafficincident in which a city man allegedly was struck and killed by hisgirlfriend, who has been charged with murder in the death.

Police Chief Pap Henderson said Lawanda Dillon, 29, of 631Booker Ave., has been charged with murder after allegedly runningover Boris E. Jackson, 32, while he was walking on Turner Streetshortly after 11 p.m. Friday.

“All evidence points to her intentionally running over him…”Henderson said. “It was a boyfriend-girlfriend deal, domesticincident, whatever you want to call it.”

Henderson said an investigation is ongoing and authorities arecontinuing to talk to witnesses in the case. Dillon remained injail Saturday night.

Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris said Jackson was pronounceddead at the scene at 11:20 p.m. Friday.

An autopsy is to be performed at the State Crime Lab within thenext few days, McMorris said. Jackson’s funeral arrangements, underthe direction of Williams Mortuary, are incomplete.

In another incident, Henderson said police are investigatinganother domestic altercation in which the male and femaleparticipants’ throats were cut around 4 a.m. Saturday on CongressStreet.

The two people were in the Intensive Care Unit at King’sDaughters Medical Center Saturday, the chief said. Additionalinformation was not available.

“We weren’t able to follow up with them at the hospital,”Henderson said.
