Services for Truitt R. Boyd, of McComb and the Felder’sCampground community, are 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at CalvaryBaptist Church in Pricedale with burial in Little Bahala Cemeteryin Lincoln County. Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb is incharge of arrangements.

Visitation is Sunday, Dec. 17, from 2 until 5 p.m. at thefuneral home, and on Monday at the church from noon until the timeof the service.

Mr. Boyd, 92, died Dec. 14, 2006, at McComb Nursing and Rehab.He was born in Pike County on July 7, 1914, to Oscar D. Boyd andBlanche B. Boyd.

He was a retired building contractor and cabinet maker in KansasCity, Mo. He and his first wife, Bernita, for many years whileresiding in Kansas City were traveling cheerleaders with the KansasCity Chiefs football team. He was a graduate of Carter’s CreekSchool and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pricedale. He wasa member of the Young at Heart club at First Baptist Church inMcComb. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having servedin the South Pacific.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, BernitaFurr Boyd; his brothers, Clyde Boyd and Herbert Boyd; and hissister, Hula Whitehurst.

Survivors are his wife of nine years, Alma Martin McCulloughBoyd, of McComb and Felder’s Campground; his stepson, JimMcCullough, of Felder’s Campground; his sister, Christine B.Johnson, of Ft. Royal, S.C., and formerly of McComb; threestepgrandchildren; six great-stepgrandchildren; three nephews; twonieces and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
