Kennedy achieves 1,500 points

CLINTON — Senior forward Lacey Kennedy reached the 1,500 pointmilestone Monday night in A. E. Wood Coliseum and led the LadyChoctaws to a 64-45 win over Texas Lutheran. The Lady Choctaws hadthree players reach double figures in the cross-divisional gameagainst the Lady Bulldogs of the ASC West.

Kennedy entered the game leading the American SouthwestConference in both scoring (22.5 ppg) and rebounding (10.5 rpg).The former Enterprise-Lincoln

High School standout paced the Lady Choctaws with 24 points, 14rebounds, eight assists and six steals.

The Lady Choctaws struggled from the field in the first half,only shooting 9-36 (.250). Despite the poor start, the LadyChoctaws took a 10-point lead into halftime.

Kennedy started off slowly, as well. She entered the break with10 points and seven rebounds. MC got some help from the LadyBulldogs as they turned the ball over 15 times.

In the second half, the Lady Choctaws picked up the scoring asthey opened up the lead to as much as 21 points at 64-43. Thesupporting cast for MC picked up the pace as well. Kim Ward andEmily Younger finished the game with 12 and 11 points,respectively.

The Lady Choctaws will be off for the Christmas holidays untilDec. 30, at 1:00 p.m. when they will face Fisk University in theBaptist Healthplex on the campus of Mississippi College.
