Services for Johnny D. “Step” Hill, of Hattiesburg, formerly ofBrookhaven, are 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at Zion Chapel A.M.E.Church in Hattiesburg with burial in Highland Cemetery inHattiesburg. Century Funeral Home in Hattiesburg is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Saturday from 9 until 11 a.m. at the church.

Mr. Hill, 62, died Dec. 21, 2006, at Forrest General MemorialHospital. He was born in Lawrence County on July 8, 1944, to J.D.Hill and Erma Lee Hill.

He was a truck driver with Economy Supply in Hattiesburg. Heattended Alexander High School, but was a 1966 graduate of EvaHarris High School. He was an avid basketball player in school. Hewas a member of Zion Chapel A.M.E. Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Missy “Snoop”Thompson; his brothers, Charles Hill and Earl Hill; and hissisters, Patsy Ruth Hill and Christian Hill.

Survivors are his son, Johnathan Hill, of Hattiesburg; hisbrother, Fred Hill and wife Hannah, of Brookhaven; his sisters,Betty Webb, of Houston, Texas, Marjorie Hathorn and husband Bobby,of Brookhaven, Dinah Dickey and husband Jamie, of Brookhaven, IrmaDow and husband Rufus, of Kokomo, Ind., Sharon Hill, JoanneMiddleton, Diane Hill, and Gary Merchant and husband Randy, all ofBrookhaven; his sister-in-law, Doris Hill, of Hattiesburg; and ahost of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
