Edwin L. Baker Sr.
Services for Edwin L. Baker Sr., of Brookhaven, were 2 p.m.Sunday, Jan. 7, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel withburial in Riverwood Memorial Park. Bro. Ken Crosby, Bro. BendonGinn and Bro. Thad Owens Jr. officiated the service.
Mr. Baker, 80, died Jan. 5, 2007, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born on Oct. 23, 1926, to Edwin Oliver Baker andAlice Gabriel Baret.
He was a pharmacist and a graduate of the University ofMississippi Pharmacy School. In August of 1958, he opened Baker’sPharmacy in Brookhaven. He served in the Navy Medical Corps duringWorld War II. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Larry KeithBaker, who has been dearly missed by his family; his sister,Dolores Barnett; and his brother, Lavec Baker.
Survivors are his wife, Marjorie Brumfield Baker; his son, EdwinLamar Baker Jr. and wife Louise; his brothers, Dr. Brandt Baker,King Baker and Dal Baker; his sister, Alice Soileau; and hisgrandchild, Erin Baker.
Pallbearers were Keith Baker, Jeff Brown, Jeff Redd, Mac Baker,LaRue Baker, Dan Brown, Earl Barnett and Dustin Perry.
Verna Lee May Davis
Services for Verna Lee May Davis, of Oma, were 2 p.m. Sunday,Jan. 7, at Fair Hill M. B. Church in Oma with burial in PleasantValley Cemetery in Oma. Williams Mortuary is in charge ofarrangements.
Mrs. Davis, 86, died Jan. 3, 2007, at her home. She was born onNov. 12, 1920, to Alex May and Sarah Watson May.
She was retired. She was a member of Fair Hill M. B. Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, EarnestDavis; two brothers; three sisters; and a grandson.
Survivors are her son, Jimmie Davis and wife, Mertis; herdaughters, Emma P. Davis, Ernestine Hannah and husband, Charles,and Catherlene Davis; her brothers, Sylvester May and Jay E. May;five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces,nephews, and other relatives.
