West Lincoln takes care of Enterprise

Aaron Collins and Jeremy Byrd scored 14 points each in leadingthe West Lincoln Bears to a 73-34 Friday night bashing of the hostEnterprise Yellow Jackets. Aaron Shaw chipped in 13 points andBradleigh Rice 10 as the Bears hiked their record to 9-6 overalland 4-0 in the Division 7-1A race.

In the varsity girls game, West Lincoln whipped Enterprise52-37, powered by Keri Easley’s 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and4 assists. Kacey Smith sacked 12 points and Titianna Marshall10.

Enterprise hosts Salem Tuesday night and West Lincoln entertainsDexter for division basketball action.

The Bears got the 2007 portion of theirschedule off to a strong start. They led Enterprise 41-16 athalftime and never looked back.

“Our defensive pressure took them (Jackets) out,” said WestLincoln coach Lane Young. “We must make our shots under the goaland quit fouling so much.”

Byrd directed the Bears on the backboards with 12 rebounds, plus3 blocked shots. Brett Rushing had 7 points and 6 rebounds. Shawhanded out 10 assists and made 3 steals.

“West Lincoln shot the ball well in the first half and wasaggressive on the boards,” said Enterprise coach Josh Bass. “Weshowed some improvement tonight.”

The Jackets (0-13, 0-3) got 8 points from Matt Taylor and JamieSmith.

The Lady Bears (5-10, 3-1) continued theirrebuilding process and stayed in contention for the division title.They led Enterprise 29-18 at halftime.

“Defensively, we played well for most of the game,” said Young.”Due to the holidays, we looked winded the second half.

“Enterprise pressed us in the second half and we turned the ballover too much.”

Easley and Smith directed West Lincoln’s rebounding effort with6 boards each. Hannah Knouse had 5 rebounds and Julie Case 4.Easley and Marshall each had 4 steals and 4 assist.

“We need to play all four quarters and not just half the game,”said Enterprise girls coach Jill Nations. Her team made 11 of 15free throws attempts.

The Lady Jackets (2-11, 1-2) got 10 points and 5 rebounds fromsenior center Lynsey Everett. Amanda Burke grabbed 5 rebounds.Erika Rutland had 3 assists and 2 steals.

Junior High Results

In the junior high girls game, Enterprise beat West Lincoln31-23, led by Karla Hux’s 13 points. C.J. Rutland added 7 pointsand Qua Roberson 5.

The Lady Bears got 7 points from Katie Mullins and 6 from HaleyAinsworth. Alexis Cook and Kari Herrington each had 4 points.

In the boys game, West Lincoln beat Enterprise 46-35, led by DeePrice’s 12 points. Javie Gee had 11 points, Jay Case 10, CalvinKees 6 and Kory Nunnery 4.

Enterprise was led by Kevin Perry’s 14 points. Sam Furr had 11points, and Cody White 8.
