Former resident in area to promote new CD

A former Brookhaven teacher turned singer-songwriter will beperforming in the area Friday to give the community a little tasteof his new CD.

Shane Prather, a native of the East Lincoln community of LincolnCounty and a former Brookhaven High School teacher, released hisfirst CD, “I’m All In” recently.

He will be performing selections from the CD at the Ice House inMcComb tomorrow night. The show is scheduled to get under wayaround 10:30 p.m.

“Sales are going pretty good,” Prather said of his new CD.

Prather’s music tends to blend modern and traditional countrysounds with a southern rock edge.

The CD is available locally at Brookhaven Music and Sound Co.and on the Internet at www.shaneprather.com. The CD is alsoavailable in limited release in scattered retail outlets inMississippi and Tennessee.

Prather’s CD is gaining momentum in the South. His songs can beheard on radio stations from Natchez to Laurel and south to theGulf Coast, he said. The most popular of his songs gaining air playis “Life Is A Gamble.”

Prather, who lives in Nashville, is busy self-promoting hisfirst album while pursuing a major label deal. He hopes to gainmore recognition when he releases his CD in Europe. He also has aMySpace page at www.myspace.com\shaneprather.

Prather is the son of June Ritz and David Prather, of Lincolnand Pike counties. He is a 1993 graduate of Brookhaven High School,a 1995 graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Community College, 1997 and 2001graduate of the University of Mississippi, and a was a teacher atBrookhaven High School from 1997 until 1999.
