Calvin Houston ‘Pops’ Jordan Jr.

Services for Calvin Houston “Pops” Jordan Jr., of Brookhaven,were 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapelwith burial in Union Hall Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Jordan, 59, died Jan. 18, 2007, at Mississippi BaptistMedical Center in Jackson. He was born on Dec. 29, 1947, to CalvinHouston Jordan Sr. and Gladys L. Thompson.

He was a former Lincoln County road manager, and a heavyequipment supervisor. He worked as a construction supervisor andwas involved in the construction of several major projects, such asGrand Gulf Nuclear Station in Port Gibson, Newsprint in SouthGrenada, and James River Paper Mill, Pennington Ala. He worked inthe construction of numerous paper mills in places such as Redwood,Bogalusa, La., Domino, Texas, and the Monticello mill.

He was an active member and head cook at Union Hall BaptistChurch. He was a member of the Fair River Masonic Lodge No. 0203,Wahabi Shrine Temple and the Brookhaven Shrine Club.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his grandparents; andhis sister, Louise Jordan Cleckler.

Survivors are his wife, Nita McGarry Jordan, of Brookhaven; hissons, Calvin B. Jordan and wife Mitzi, and Lance R. Jordan and wifeSamantha, all of Brookhaven; his daughter, Jane A. Jordan Britt andhusband Charles, of Brookhaven; his sisters, Virginia Brumfield andhusband Glenn, and Laura Barksdale and husband Brooks, all ofBrookhaven; and his grandchildren, Tanner R. Jordan, Maggie L.Jordan and Houston R. Jordan.
