Services for Harold Laird, of the West Lincoln community, wereSunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at 2:30 p.m. at Community FuneralServices.

Mr. Laird, 84, died at Hospice Ministries Inc., in Ridgeland onJan. 18, 2007. He was born on July 21, 1922, to Luther Laird andLillie Case Laird.

He was a lifelong resident of Lincoln County, who was raised inthe West Lincoln community. He was retired from JacobsenManufacturing. He was also a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.On March 20, 1948, he married Audrey Smith Laird. He was loved byall who were blessed to know him.

He was a World War II veteran, fought with the infantry during28 months of combat in the Aleutians, the Marshalls, thePhilippines and Okinawa. He was awarded two Bronze Stars and thePurple Heart medal.

Preceding his death were his wife; his parents; and his brother,Homer Laird.

Survivors are his sons, Randy Laird and his wife, Mary, of theWest Lincoln community, and Russell Laird and his wife Sandra, ofthe Enterprise community; his daughter, Theresia Freeman and herhusband Roy, of Starkville; seven grandsons, four great-grandsons;two great-granddaughters; his brother, Hidgon Laird, of WestLincoln community; his sister, Jewell Pickering and her husbandJames, of Lucien; his sister-in-law, Winnie Laird, of West Lincolncommunity; his sister-in-law, Doris Smith, of West Lincolncommunity; Jewell Smith, of Grayling, Mich.; and many loved niecesand nephews.

Pallbearers are Randy Laird Jr., Luke Laird, Harvey Laird,Timothy Freeman, Joshua Laird, Justin Laird and Richie Freeman.
