UTICA – It was a tale of two halves Thursday night inCopiah-Lincoln Community College’s South division men’s match-upwith Hinds Community College. The homestanding Bulldogs won thefirst half (41-35), but the Wolfpack would take the second half(34-19); thus defeating Hinds 69-60 in the J.D. Boyd Gymnasium.

Co-Lin improves to 12-4 overall and 5-1 in the South division.Hinds dropped to 10-7 and 4-2.

Co-Lin travels to Ellisville to take on Jones County CommunityCollege Monday in an important MACJC South division match-up. Hindshosts Southwest Monday.

The Wolves could not stop the torrid shooting of guard FlawannFlaggs, a 6-foot-1 sophomore from Jackson, in the first half. Heconnected on 7-of-9 field goals, including a 4-of-6 clip frombehind the 3-point arc; scoring 19 points.

The Bulldogs shot a blistering 69 percent from the field(15-22), enroute to a 41-35 halftime lead.

Co-Lin stayed in the game by shooting 73 percent from the field(16 of 22). Post players Greg Truvillion (12) and ChristianMarshall (6) combined for 18 points in the half; countered Hinds’outside attack with their inside presence.

“Flaggs shot the lights out in the first half,” said Wolfpackhead coach Dennis Sims. “We defended him well, but he would notmiss.”

Sims’ Wolves would begin to chip away at their halftime deficitearly in the second half. Even though Hinds would realize a 51-51deadlock with 10:10 left in the game, Co-Lin would use 10-4 runover the next 7:48 for a 61-55 lead with 2:22 left on theclock.

Bulldog head coach Ralph Moore saw that his team could not getany closer. Flaggs, who led all scorers with 24 points, sacked atrey with under 25 seconds to pull Hinds to within 6 points, at66-60.

Truvillion, a 6-foot-8 sophomore from Lansing, Michigan, nailed6-of-8 from the charity stripe in the final minute to secure thewin.

“We played better in the second half,” said Coach Sims. “We werebetter at going inside.”

Truvillion led Co-Lin with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists.Marshall pumped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Corey London had12.

Co-Lin held a 27-13 advantage in rebounding. Each team committed11 turnovers. The Wolves shot 72 percent from the field (28 of 39)for the game,while Hinds cooled down to 48 percent (21 of 44).
