Armed subject sought in suspicious activity

Brookhaven police are searching for a man who allegedlybrandished a pistol at a female BellSouth contractor on CloverdaleAcres Street late Thursday afternoon.

The woman was an employee of Encore Marketing, a companycontracted to Bellsouth to do door-to-door marketing. When shewalked out of one of the apartments, there was a black malestanding by a vehicle with a pistol, said BPD Capt. Roger Wilson,citing the woman’s account of the incident.

The man allegedly pointed the pistol at her and said, “Hey, comehere.” The girl ran away screaming, Wilson said.

“We thought at first it was an attempted robbery, but he neversaid, ‘Give me your money’ or anything like that,” Wilson said.”It’s just a simple assault by physical menace at this point, andwe do have a suspect we’re looking at.”

Wilson also said the police department would like to take astatement from the suspect, who was last seen in the area wearing agray hooded sweatshirt. At this time it is not clear what kind ofpistol he had in his possession.
