BA teams sweep Centreville

CENTREVILLE — The Brookhaven Academy Cougars swept a pair ofvarsity basketball games from the Centreville Academy TigersSaturday night.

Guard T-Boy Lynch pumped in a game-high 24 points, added 14assists and made 5 steals to power the Cougars to an 89-71 win overthe Tigers.

In the girls game, Kelli Snider’s 15 points sparked theBrookhaven Academy girls to a 40-36 victory over Centreville.

Brookhaven Academy hosts Jackson Academy Monday night for SeniorNight. The District 6-AA tournament starts Thursday at ColumbiaAcademy

Brookhaven 89, Centreville 71

The Cougars improved to 22-4 on the season and are 8-0 inDistrict 6-AA play. BA finished with 8 treys while Centrevillefollowed with 5.

“We are looking forward to playing Jackson Academy,” said BAboys coach Dale Watts.

Contributing to the BA win with 15 points was Blaine Roberts.Scoring 13 points was Sawyer Wallace. Finishing with 10 points wasDaniel Lofton. Ty Smith and Grant Posey led off the backboards with6 rebounds apiece.

Centreville was paced by Drew Davis with 22 points. Kyle Brownand Rusty Knighton fired in 13 points apiece.

Brookhaven 40, Centreville 36

Contributing to the BA girls win with 14 points was Drew HollandTigner. Kacey Rutland led off the backboards with 5 rebounds.

The Lady Cougars, coached by Barry Gray, improved to 27-3overall and finish 8-0 in district play. They were minus playmakerBetsy Lynch who suffered a torn ACL last week against CopiahAcademy.

Amber Addington led Centreville with 19 points. Shellie Vinefinished with 10 points.
