Health care executive L. Glenn Davis has been tapped to providetemporary leadership at King’s Daughters Medical Center followingthe recent resignation of Phillip Grady as chief executive officerlast week.

Davis will start in his duties today.

“I look forward to coming out there,” said Davis, of Greensboro,N.C., in a telephone interview Monday. “KDMC is a good hospital andI look forward to managing it.”

Hospital officials said the appointment is temporary. Davis ispresident of Davis Health Care Group, Inc., a company specializingin providing interim management services to hospitals.

Davis came highly recommended from Quorum Health Resources, anational management company contracted by the hospital’s board oftrustees to manage the facility, a KDMC official said. QHR hiresthe chief executive officer and chief financial officer.

QHR will continue to search for a permanent CEO for KDMC.

Davis is expected to lead the hospital for 60 to 90 days, saidJoAnna Sproles, a hospital spokeswoman. During his time here, hewill also be overseeing the $11 million expansion of the hospitalbegun last month.

Davis has extensive experience in the medical field. He startedin 1977 at the City of Memphis Hospital at the University ofTennessee as vice president of professional/support services,project coordinator and clinic administrator.

He served as administrator at Elbert Memorial Hospital inElberton, Ga., from 1983 to 1986 and Milford Memorial Hospital inMilford, Del., from 1986 to 1996.

Davis was named chief executive officer at Central CarolinaHospital in Sanford, N.C., in 1996 and held that position until2004, when he left to form the Davis Health Care Group.

Grady’s last day at the hospital was Jan. 26. He had been KDMC’sCEO since 1998.
