Services for Jesse O. “Lavon” Hampton, of Brookhaven, are 1 p.m.Saturday, Feb. 17, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel withburial in Easthaven Cemetery in Brookhaven.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Hampton, 70, died Feb. 13, 2007, at his residence. He wasborn on May 20, 1936, to Jesse O. Hampton Sr. and Ida UptonHampton.

He was retired from Grand Trunk Railroad. He was a veteran ofthe U.S. Army. He was a member of Jackson Street United MethodistChurch in Brookhaven.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, ShirleyLaBree Hampton; his daughter, Cheryl Hampton; and his grandson,Gary D. Hughes II.

Survivors are his son, Christopher J. Hampton, of Brookhaven;his daughters, Bonnie S. McCaslin and husband John, of Grant Park,Ill., Deborah H. Case, of Brookhaven, Vicki L. Hughes and husbandGary, and Dawn M. Fuller and husband Mark, all of Brookhaven; hissisters, Louise Coke and husband Charles, and Ruth Allgood andhusband Will Roy, all of Mokena, Ill., Bobbye Schroeder, of Roscoe,Ill., and Carolyn Gratsonis, of Salem, Ill.; his grandchildren,Amber, John and Heather McCaslin, Nathan and Jordan Williams,Spencer, Jesse and Julie Hughes, Kylie Hampton, Madeline AlexisMullins and Jadeyn and Jenna Fuller.
