WESSON — The Co-Lin Lady Wolves wrapped up their final homegame of the season on a winning note Thursday night. The LadyWolves avenged their only South Division loss to Jones County bybeating the Lady Bobcats 59-54 in Mullen Gymnasium. They finishedthe season with no losses on their home floor.

The Lady Wolves(23-2,13-1) were upset 86-72 by the Lady Bobcatsin Ellisville on Jan. 29. Last night was sweet revenge for Co-Linwho will host the State Tournament which begins next week.

“Jones County played hard,” said Co-Lin women’s coach Gwyn Youngfollowing the win. “We made some mental mistakes, threw away somelong shots. It was a good win. We were able to finish the seasonfor the sophomores with no losses on our home court.”

Co-Lin came into the second half leading Jones County 38-31. TheLady Wolves pushed their lead to 14 points, 47-33, with 15:48 lefton a trey from sophomore guard Hanna Porter for the hosts biggestlead in the second half.

Jones County chipped away at the lead, cutting it to two points,54-52, with 2:47 left to play. Sophomore forward Erica Trahan went1-for-2 from the free-line, followed by Porter with a jump shot topush the Co-Lin lead to 57-52 with 1:35 left. Following a free fromJones County, sophomore guard Nikki Williams nailed a pair of freethrows to give the Lady Wolves a 59-53 advantage with 42 secondsremaining in the game.

Jones County lead only once, at the 12:01 mark in the firstquarter with a 14-13 lead over Co-Lin. Sophomore guard WhitneyScott scored a field goal to put the Lady Wolves back up 15-14.Williams went on a 6 points run to give the hosts a 21-15, 6-pointedge.

Williams was the leading scorer for the Lady Wolves with 19points. She pulled down 5 rebounds, made 4 steals and had 6assists. Porter followed with 18 points, including 4 treys, and 4assists. Trahan finished with 7 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and 4blocked shots.

The Lady Bobcats,coached by Sandra Sumrall, fell to 19-6 overalland 10-4 in the South.

Freshman guards Kim Lewis and Pauline Love paced Jones Countywith 14 points apiece. Rosemary Green and Kelsey Hopkins followedwith 7 points apiece.
