Panthers finish 2-2 in baseball action

The Brookhaven Panther baseball team fashioned a 2-2 worksheetover the weekend; in the mist of an early season road trip. Coachedby Randy Spring, Ole Brook dropped an 8-3 decision to the MadisonCentral Jaguars at NW Rankin Thursday. The Panthers swept SouthPike 14-0 and 18-1.

On Saturday morning, Brookhaven fell to Olive Branch 10-9 at NWRankin. The Panthers improved to 5-2 on the season.

Brookhaven returns to the diamond Tuesday at Wesson.

Madison Central 8, Brookhaven 3

Junior left-hander Paxton King suffered his first loss of theseason, striking out 7 and walking 3. Benjamin Adcock got the winfor the Jaguars, fanning 6 Panther batters.

Lending support for Ole Brook was Taylor Newman with a 4-bagger.Nick Helmstetter doubled. King, Newman, Elliot Warren and Bud Britteach singled.

Madison Central got 2 singles each from Spencer Boothe, TylerAtkins and Grafton Bragg. Logan Hale homered.

Brookhaven 18, South Pike 1

Brandon Foster (1-0) got the win in 4 innings, allowing 1 run on3 hits; walking 2 and striking out 7.

King, Mitch Pappas and Josh Coone all singled twice. R.J.Jenkins singled and tripled. Britt, Nick Peavey, Newman, ZackHalliwell and Cody Ratcliff each had a single. Helmstetterdoubled.

Brookhaven 14, South Pike 0

Helmstetter (1-0) tossed a no-hitter to get his first win overthe season; striking out 6 South Pike batters. He also helped hiscause at the plate with a homerun.

Ratcliff homered twice. Newman singled and tripled. Coonedoubled. Hitting safely were Warren, Pappas and Cole Newell.

Olive Branch 10, Brookhaven 9

For Brookhaven, Warren and Britt hit 2 singles apiece. Ratcliffdoubled and homered. Collecting singles were Pappas, King, Cooneand Newman.

Coone (1-1) dropped the decision with 5 strikeouts and a walk.Adams Hudson got win for the Conquistadors.

Olive Branch got support from Chris Haley and Ricky Dodson, whoeach singled and doubled. Dalton Kulas tripled.
