Services for Tony Smith, of Wesson, are 2 p.m. Monday, March 5,at Sylvarena Baptist Church in Wesson with burial in SylvarenaCemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Monday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Smith, 75, died March 3, 2007, at Hardy Wilson MemorialHospital in Hazlehurst.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Copiah County exceptfor the time he spent in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War,where he was stationed in Japan, and when he was with the De LavalSeparator Co. He was a graduate of Copiah-Lincoln High School, andattended Copiah-Lincoln Community College and the U.S. Air ForceElectronics School. He began his career in the U.S. Air Forcebefore becoming a factory representative for De Laval Separator Co.He then returned home to co-own a dairy farm with his father. Underthe Cliff Finch administration, he served on the State ParoleBoard. He was a supervisor for 20 years in Copiah County. In hisretirement, he operated a cattle farm. Mr. Smith was president ofMississippi Milk Producers; president of Dairymen Inc. in Jackson;vice president of Dairymen Inc., in Louisville, Ky.; on theExecutive Committee of the National Milk Producers; president ofFlav-O-Rich Corp. He served on the Southeastern Board of SUDIA; theGreat Lakes Southern Board; and the American Dairy AdvertisingBoard. He served as president of Wesson Chamber of Commerce and theCattlemen’s Association. He was a member of Sylvarena BaptistChurch.

He is survived by his wife Mary Kathryn Uselton Smith; his sons,Steve T. Smith, Fred E. Smith and Terry L. Smith, all of Wesson;his daughter, Nancy B. Simpson of Baytown, Texas; his brother,Homer E. Smith, of Madison; his grandchildren, Sarah Smith, MattSmith, Tori Smith, Troy Smith, Josh Smith, Cooper Smith, KacieSimpson and Jacob Simpson; and his great-grandson, Tyler PeytonPrevost.
