Man hurt in ATV mishap

A Brookhaven man was in critical condition this morningfollowing a four-wheeler accident Tuesday evening, authoritiessaid.

Chase Eady, 22, of Brookhaven, sustained massive head injuriesin the accident that happened while he was riding with friends onCalifornia Road in the Hilltop community Tuesday at 5:47 p.m., saidCapt. Dustin Bairfield, of the Lincoln County Sheriff’sDepartment.

Bairfield said Eady lost control of the vehicle and hit a largeoak tree. Deputies said he was thrown from the ATV and was lying inthe ditch when they arrived on the scene.

Eady was flown to the University of Mississippi Medical Centerin Jackson from Kings Daughters Medical Center last night. A UMCspokesman said Eady was listed in critical condition Wednesdaymorning.

Eady was riding four-wheelers in the Hilltop Community withWeston Young, 22, and Donovan Carnley, 22, both of Brookhaven.Barefield said Young and Carnley called 911 to report theaccident.

The accident is still under investigation.
