Services for Charles Burris Sr., of Monticello, are 11 a.m.Saturday, April 14, at Oak Grove M.B. Church in Monticello withburial in the church cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 1 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home,with family hour from 7 until 8 p.m.

Mr. Burris, 83, died April 6, 2007, at Lawrence County MedicalCenter. He was born on Feb. 11, 1924, to Talor Burris and Lucy MaeBurris.

He was retired. He was a member of Oak Grove M.B. Church. He wasa veteran of the United States Army.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Alice Burris, of Monticello; his sons,Charles P. Burris Jr., of Monticello, Robert Chesters, ofPonchatoula, La., and Robert Brown, of Monticello; his daughters,Minnie B. Evans, of Monticello, and Ora Lee Burris, of Chicago,Ill.; his brothers, Hamilton Burris and Conston Burris, both ofFranklinton, La., and Thruman Burris, of Los Angeles, Calif.; hissisters, Gloria Burris, of Franklinton, Ora Lee Burris and BarbaraBurris, both of Los Angeles, and Georgia Mae Harvest, of Chicago,Ill.; and his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and otherrelatives.
