Copiah Colonels elude BA for South State AA

Copiah Academy, Brookhaven Academy, Prairie View and SillimanInstitute were the top four finishers Monday in the South State AAGolf Tournament at the Brookhaven Country Club. The top 4 teamswill battle the top 4 North squads on Wednesday, May 2, at theDogwood Country Club in Grenada for the state championship.

Copiah finished first in South State with a 299 followed byBrookhaven 311, Prairie View 325 and Silliman Institute 337. Otherteams participating but missing the cut were Prentiss Christian343, Riverfield 345, Central Private 368, Bowling Green 382,Franklin 476.

Heath Hines of Prairie View won first medalist honors with a2-under 68. Second medalist honors went to Stephen Bozeman ofCopiah with 70. Third medalist was Brookhaven’s Jacob Ross at 70.Ben Stevens of Copiah finished fourth at 75. Bozeman beat Ross in asudden death playoff.
