Services for Nova Lee Smith Burris, of Baton Rouge, La., are 11a.m. Monday, April 23, at McCall Creek Baptist Church with burialin Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin County. The funeralservice will be conducted by Dr. Harold Anderson. BrookhavenFuneral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the serviceat McCall Creek Baptist Church.

Mrs. Burris, 93, died April 20, 2007, at St. Clare Manor NursingHome in Baton Rouge. She was born in Franklin County on Jan. 9,1914, to Sam Smith and Joanna Jenkins Smith.

She was a homemaker. She was a faithful and active member ofMcCall Creek Baptist Church until her move to Baton Rouge in2001.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband, HardyH. Burris.

Survivors are her daughters, Nelda Beam and husband Carey, ofBaton Rouge, Toba D’Amico and husband Michael, of West Paterson,N.J., and Robin Thomas, of Madison; her grandchildren, Michael J.D’Amico, Cyrus “Cy” C. Beam Jr., Rebecca Beam Bailey, and VictoriaAnne Thomas; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Cy Beam, Barrett Beam, Jimmy Burris, DannySmith, Mike Porter and Elzie Chance.

God did place an angel here on earth, and He did so in the formof Nova Burris. She loved, cared, smiled, trusted, and always saidthank you to everyone. We will miss her but we will rejoice knowingshe is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
