Services for Katherine Ruth Slay Garrett, of Madison, are 11a.m. Friday, April 27, at Old Rice Road Baptist Church with burialin Natchez Trace Memorial Park. Wright & Ferguson Funeral Homein Ridgeland is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home,and on Friday at 10 a.m. until the time of the service at thechurch.
Mrs. Garrett died April 23, 2007.
She was retired as school cafeteria manager withMadison-Ridgeland Academy. She was a faithful, loving servant andcharter member of Old Rice Road Baptist Church, where her love forcooking led her to serve on the kitchen committee. She was a lovingwife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her true love, P.C. “Boots” GarrettJr.; her parents, Alonzo D. and Matilda Gertrude Slay; her son,P.C. Garrett III; her sister, Merle Leach; and her brothers, Robertand Charlie Slay.
Survivors are her daughters, Glenda Bruce and husband Thomas, ofCleveland, and Kathy Jones and husband Mike, of Vicksburg; her son,Bruce Garrett and wife JoAnn, of Brookhaven; her brother, Jack Slayand wife Teresa, of Starkville; her devoted sister-in-law, DorothyScruggs, of Ridgeland; her brother-in-law, Mike Garrett and wifeHilda, of Alvin, Texas; and her 10 grandchildren and fivegreat-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Old Rice Road Baptist ChurchBuilding Fund, or donations may be made through your local Baptistchurch to the Margaret Lackey State Mission Fund.
