Brookhaven Fire Chief Bob Watts said the Friday evening fire atBrookhaven Chiropractic Clinic seems not to be connected to theApril 28 fire at Hubbard Chiropractic Center.

“I could see where it would be curious, and when I saw thereport, I thought it was a little strange,” he said. “But so far Idon’t see any connection.”

The Hubbard Chiropractic fire spawned an arson investigation bythe state fire marshal that is still ongoing.

BFD Capt. Charles Francis said the latest fire was called in at5:40 p.m. Friday. The fire was isolated to one room in the clinic, and didn’t seem to have any suspicious element to it.

“It wasn’t anything suspicious as far as being like the otherone,” he said, referring to the Hubbard fire. “It was isolated tothe room where the X-ray machine was.”

Francis said the damage wasn’t minimal, but it could have been alot worse if people at an adjoining business hadn’t acted quicklyin reporting the fire.

“The X-ray machine was so damaged it was hard to see what itwas. And that one room was damaged, and there was some water on thecarpet,” he said. “Since nobody was there, we had to force entryinto the building by knocking out the glass in the front door.”

Francis said the fire appeared to be electrical and could havecome from the X-ray machine. But the cause so far isundetermined.
