Services for Edith Mae Smith Norton, of Brookhaven, are 4 p.m.Friday, June 15, at the Red Star Ward of the Church of Jesus Christof Latter Day Saints with burial in the church cemetery. BrookhavenFuneral Home on Natchez Drive is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Thursday from 4 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home,and on Friday at the church from 3 p.m. until the time of theservice.
Mrs. Norton, 86, died June 13, 2007, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born in Lincoln County on March 1, 1921, toClarence Marshall Smith and Katie Maebelle Britt Smith.
She was a homemaker, a beautician, and a former seamstress withStahl-Urban. She was a faithful member of the Brookhaven Branch ofthe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she servedin numerous positions. She was a member of the Demonstrators Cluband Garden Club and was very involved in family history andgenealogy.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, ClydeWylie Norton; her brother, Talmadge Smith; and her granddaughter,Connie Smith.
Survivors are her sons, Clyde Gary Norton and Mark AndrewNorton, both of Brookhaven, and Dr. Timothy Wade Norton, ofHattiesburg; her daughter, Ramona Faye Norton Smith, of Pineville,La.; her brothers, Charles Marshall Smith and George EldridgeSmith, both of Brookhaven; her sisters, Margie Belle Wilcox andMary Francis Selman, both of Fullerton, Calif.; her 16grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and onegreat-great-grandchild.
