Bolivar ‘Bob’ Coke

Services for Bolivar “Bob” Coke, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m.Saturday, June 23, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel withburial in Mt. Moriah Church Cemetery in Lincoln County.

Visitation is Friday from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Coke, 86, died June 19, 2007, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born on Aug. 9, 1920, to the Rev. Bolivar Coke andEmma Jordan Coke.

He was a photographer and owner of the Art Studio in downtownBrookhaven. He served as president for the Greater New OrleansCamera Club, as well as area leader and national second vicepresident for Recovery Inc. He was a member of Mt. Moriah BaptistChurch.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his mother- andfather-in-law, Gertie Barksdale Smith and Fred Smith.

Survivors are his wife, Bertie Smith Coke, of Brookhaven; hisdaughters, Betsy Coke Douglas and husband Larry, of Lafayette, La.,Jenny Coke Allgood and husband Larry, of Elwood, Ill., and DebbieS. Coke, of Gretna, La.; his brothers, Willard Coke, Charles Cokeand Lynn Coke; his sister, Pru Parnell; and his six grandchildrenand seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Lanelle Burns Douglas

Graveside services for Lanelle Burns Douglas, of Shreveport, La.,are 2 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at Rosehill Cemetery in Brookhaven.Harrigill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Saturday from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Douglas, 94, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, June 21,2007, in Shreveport. She was born on Oct. 20, 1912, to Henry Burnsand Maggie Burns.

She was a devoted wife and mother. She was active in her church aslong as she was able.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband of 72 years,Willie C. “Bill” Douglas; her brothers, Aubrey Burns and ArthurBurns; and her sister, Grace Burns Huhn.

Survivors are her son, Carey Regeland Douglas and wife Jeannette,of San Antonio, Texas; her daughter, Peggy D. Powell, ofShreveport; her brother, Sheldon Burns and wife Elaine, ofGeorgetown, Ky.; her grandchildren, Kevin Douglas and wife Pam, ofTexarkana, Texas, Karen Alexander and husband Mark, of Cordoba,Argentina, Shawn Arnold, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., and ShaneArnold and wife Lisa, of Birmingham, Ala.; and hergreat-grandchildren, Ariel, Lucas and Steven Alexander.

Harvey Lee Herring

Graveside services for Harvey Lee Herring, of Brookhaven, are 3p.m. Saturday, June 23, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Brookhaven. R.E.Tyler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Herring, 74, died June 21, 2007, at Countrybrook Living Center.He was born on June 14, 1933, to John Herring and Pinkie KeysHerring.

He was a former lumber handler with Columbus Lumber Co.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Irma Herring;and his sister, Cordie Mae Jenkins.

Survivors are his son, Harvey Kelly, of Brookhaven; and hisdaughter, Sherry Moses, of Brookhaven.

Berkley Conway ‘B.C.’ Hux Jr.

Services for Berkley Conway “B.C. Hux Jr., of Sontag, are 2 p.m.Saturday, June 23, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel withburial in Wellman Baptist Church Cemetery in Brookhaven.

Mr. Hux, 79, died June 21, 2007, at his residence. He was born onFeb. 8, 1928, to Berkley Conway Hux Sr. and Rena Mae WilkersonHux.

He was a retired logger.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, Richard Hux;his sister Vera Dew; and his son-in-law Johnny Roy Thompson.

Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Mary Geneva Jordan Hux, ofSontag; his sons, Cletis Hux and wife Karen, of Birmingham, Ala.,and Ronnie Hux and wife Sherry, of Brookhaven; his daughters,Georgia Howell and husband Bufford Howell Jr., of Jayess, GailThompson, Delilah Spencer and husband Perry, of Brookhaven, BonnieBusby, Debbie Sills, of Brookhaven, Brenda Smith and husbandBenjie, of Brookhaven; his brothers, Oliver Hux, Jesse Herbert Hux,Jerry Hux and David “D.D.” Hux; his sisters, Margie Cantrell,Marylin Holley, Lettie Mae Bales and Linda Lambert; his 23grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Joyce Provenzano

Joyce Provenzano, 81, of Osyka, died on June 17, 2007, at McCombExtended Care.

She was born on Feb. 24, 1926, to William A. Hayes and AntoniaValentine Hayes.

Mrs. Provenzano was a graduate of McDonough High School, Class of1942. She and her husband lived most of their lives together in NewOrleans, La., until they moved to Osyka 15 years ago. She loved totravel, especially on cruises. She lived for her children andgrandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her sister, MazineOliphant.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Vincent E. Provenzano,of Osyka; her son, Vincent W. Provenzano and daughter-in-law,Melissa A. Provenzano; her daughter, Susan Pettigrew, of NewOrleans; her grandchildren, Zachary Pettigrew, Samuel Brown,Gabrielle Provenzano and Vincent Provenzano III.

At her request, no funeral services will be held.

Eunice E. Rutland

Services for Eunice E. Rutland, of Jayess, are 11 a.m. Saturday,June 23, at Topeka Baptist Church in Jayess with burial in RobertsMemorial Cemetery in Jayess. Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello isin charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home, andon Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of theservice.

Mrs. Rutland, 89, died June 20, 2007, at Lawrence County NursingHome. She was born on May 27, 1918, to Horace Lambert and MinnieBullock Lambert.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of of Topeka Baptist Church,where she was the last surviving charter member.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Maxie S.Rutland; her son, Maxie Carey Rutland; her daughter, Jo Ann R.Douglas; her grandchild, Maxie Keith Rutland; and her five brothersand six sisters.

Survivors are her grandchildren, Ben H. Douglas II, of Veneta,Ore., Pamela Douglas Solomont, of Johnson City, Tenn., MichealRutland, of Ruth, Michelle Rutland, Clay Rutland and MauriceRutland, all of Jayess, and Melanie Rutland Cantrell, ofHattiesburg; her 11 great-grandchildren; and threegreat-great-grandchildren.

Maylene Flint Young

Services for Maylene Flint Young, of Philadelphia, are 10 a.m.Saturday, June 23, at John E. Stephens Funeral Services Chapel inPhiladelphia with burial in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Young, 81, died June 21, 2007, at Neshoba County Nursing Homein Philadelphia.

She was retired from South Central Bell after 26 years of service,holding various positions. She was a member of First Baptist Churchin Philadelphia.

Preceding her in death were her parents, James Terell Flint andBerlie Melton Flint; her sister, Janie Flint Boler; and herbrother, Kelton Flint.

Survivors are her husband, J.O. Young, of Philadelphia; herdaughters, Brenda Matthews, of Philadelphia, Janice Smith, of BogueChitto, Debbie McLemore, of Brandon, and Felecia Owens, of Terry;her stepdaughters, Shirley Jackson and Glynda Hollandsworth, bothof Mize; her stepson, Hayward Young, of Quitman; her sevengrandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; her fourstepgrandchildren and five great-stepgrandchildren.
