Sarah Hoskins Freid

Graveside services for Sarah “Sally” Hoskins Freid, of NewOrleans, La., formerly of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m. Friday, July 13,at Hoskins Cemetery in Brookhaven. Brookhaven Funeral Home is incharge of local arrangements.

Mrs. Freid died July 7, 2007, at Ochsner Hospital in NewOrleans. She was born on Sept. 23, 1919, to Sid J. Hoskins andFlora Jobes Hoskins.

She was a native of Brookhaven. She graduated from BrookhavenHigh School and worked locally for utility companies in secretarialand bookkeeping positions before moving to New Orleans in 1955. Shehad been active in the First Presbyterian Church as well as in clubwork.

In 1958, she married Leon Freid, formerly of Boston, Mass. Shewas administration assistant to the director of the NationalAssociation of Securities Dealers, retiring after 25 years ofservice. She was active in the Carrollton Presbyterian Church,serving as president of the Women of the Church for several years.She served as vice president of the Poydras Home Auxiliary for twoyears.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; herbrother, Sidney J. Hoskins Jr.; and her nephew, Sidney G.Hoskins.

Survivors are her nephew, William H. Hoskins, of Orinda, Calif.;Betty Hoskins, wife of the late Sidney G. Hoskins, of Centennial,Colo.; four great-nieces and nephews; four great-great-nieces andnephews; and several cousins.

Mary ‘Ditsie’ C. Decell Wilkerson

Graveside services for Mary “Ditsie” C. Decell Wilkerson,formerly of Brookhaven, are 10 a.m. Friday, July 13, at LakewoodMemorial Park in Jackson. Beste Funeral Home in Mosinee, Wisc., isin charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wilkerson, 90, died July 5, 2007, at Kennedy Park Medicaland Rehabilitation Center in Weston, Wisc. She was born inBrookhaven on Nov. 30, 1916, to George and Tillie (Planchard)Decell. She married Ed Wilkerson on Oct. 1, 1939, in Brookhaven. Hedied March 25, 1968.

She was a homemaker.

Preceding her in death was her parents; her husband; and herson, Skip Wilkerson.

Survivors are her daughter, Betty Claire Ulrich and husbandKenneth, of Palmer, Alaska.
