The Lincoln County 14-year old All-Stars got an all-around teameffort Monday night at Exchange Club Park in the Dixie BoysBaseball double-elimination district tournament. In a pitcher’sduel, Lincoln County got a complete game no-hitter from pitcherScottie Peavey for a 5-1 win over the Natchez All-Stars.

Natchez travels to Summit tonight for a 6 p.m. elimination game.The winner of that game will flip a coin with Lincoln County, tosee where the 2 remaining teams in the tournament will host thefinals.

Lincoln County 5, Natchez 1

“I was thinking about pulling Scottie towards the end,” saidLincoln Co. manager Lee Berry. “He made it through for us. He did agood job tonight.”

Peavey went the distance (7 innings), allowing 1 run on no hits.He walked 5 and fanned 14 Natchez batters Peavey helped his causeat the plate by scoring the final Lincoln County run.

Natchez’s Tyler Morrison suffered the loss in 5 innings, givingup 5 runs (3 earned) on 3 hits. He issued 2 walks and struck out 7Lincoln County batters. Trevor Faust tossed the final innings with2 strikeouts.

The Lincoln Countians plated a pair of runs in the fourth. Keenewalked. Hayes, running for Keene, stole second and moved to thirdon a fielder’s choice ground out by Wilson. Hayes scored on apassed ball. With 2 outs, rightfielder Jarrett Todd smashed a solohomer over the left field fence and his teammates held a 3-0cushion.

“We wanted to use Marquis’ speed tonight,” Coach Berry commentedabout Hayes who stole 5 bases in the game.

In the fifth with 2 outs, second baseman Bubba Keene reached onan error, stole second and reached third on a passed ball. Peaveywalked. Travis Keene doubled to right field, scoring bothrunners.

“We got the hits when we needed them tonight,” added Berry.

Natchez got on the scoreboard in the sixth. Leadoff batter CoryEmanuel walked. Hunter Havard reached on an error which movedEmanuel to second. Havard later stole second, pushing Emanuel tothird. Two batters later, Lee Swinny’s groundout to first wouldscore Emanuel.
