Lincoln Co. eliminates Carthage

HATTIESBURG — Bubba Keene struck out 7 batters and walked 3 tohelp the Lincoln County 14s to an 11-3 win over Carthage Sundaymorning in the Dixie Boys Baseball League 14s State Tournament.Carthage is eliminated after losing Saturday to Mize 9-7.
Lincoln County faces Cleveland today at 2 p.m.
The losing pitcher was Evan Dowell with no strikeouts and 7walks.
Lincoln County, who was the visiting team, took advantage of the7 errors committed by Carthage. The visitors had only 1 error.
Powering Lincoln County with a home run was Jarrett Todd. TylerCase ripped a pair of doubles and a single. Singling were ZackBowman, Garrett Greer, Bubba Keene, Calvin Robinson, Marquis Hayes,Joel Patrick and Travis Keene.
Carthage got a homer and 2 singles from Dowell. Brad Hunter andAaron Tucker hit safely.
Lincoln County led Carthage 3-1 after the first inning. LincolnCounty pushed its lead to 4-1 after the second inning and 7-3 atthe end of the third. Lincoln County added 2 runs in the top of thefourth to push its lead to 9-3. They added 2 more runs in theseventh for the 11-3 lead and eventual win.
