Gladys Marie Holmes

Services for Gladys Marie Holmes, of Monticello, are 2 p.m.Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Bethel Baptist Church in Monticello withburial in Bethel Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello is incharge of arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5 p.m. until the time of the serviceat the church.

Mrs. Holmes, 82, died July 30, 2007, at Lawrence County NursingCenter in Monticello. She was born on Feb. 2, 1925, to B.H. Morrisand Winnie Bell Cook Morris.

She was a retired nurse’s aide with Lawrence County Hospital.She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Robert V.Holmes; her sons, Sammy Holmes and Rickey Holmes; her brother andsister.

Survivors are her son, Danny Holmes and wife Susan, ofMonticello; her daughter, Sandra Turner and husband A.C., ofMonticello; her eight grandchildren and fourgreat-grandchildren.

Norma Jean Owen

Services for Norma Jean Owen, of Crystal Springs, are 2 p.m.Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Stringer Family Funeral Chapel in CrystalSprings with burial in Fayette Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from noon until the time of the serviceat the funeral home.

Mrs. Owen, 61, died July 30, 2007, at her residence.

Survivors are her husband, Albert H. Owen; her son, WalterAlexander Owen II and wife Kathy, of El Dorado, Ark.; her daughter,Cheryl Renee Arnold and husband William, of Greenville; herbrothers, Charles Holliday and wife Sandy, and Dean Holliday, bothof Crystal Springs; her sisters, Shirley LaBlanc, Minnie PearlHolliday, Lillie Mae Castleberry and husband Tiny, and GladysWilliams, all of Crystal Springs; and grandchildren, Joshua Owen,Steven Owen, Victoria Owen, Courtney Arnold and ChristopherArnold.
