Hood, Furr take 2nd in MS/LA Jr. golf

WESSON — Elliot Tramontana won the Third Annual MS/La. JuniorChampionship in Division A (ages 16-18) with a 2-day total of4-under par 140 at the Wolf Hollow Golf Club. Tramontana’ssweat-soaked, two-day score was 70-70.
Warren Hood of Wesson took second place in Division A, shooting72-71 for 143 on a sweltering weekend.
In the Girls Division (13-18), Heather Lott shot a 76 Saturdayand an impressive 70 Sunday for first place with a 146. Wesson’sPerry Katherine Furr followed with a 77-72–152 for secondplace.
In the other Boys Divisions, Easton Key shot a 77 and 69 forfirst with a 146 in the Division B (ages 14-15). Hunter Harmon shota 149 (77-72) for first place in Division C (ages 12-13). JacobRoss of Brookhaven took fourth place with a 157 (80-77).
Capturing first place in Division D was Steve Pannell with a 45and 42 for an 87 for 18 holes.
“It was awesome,” said Wolf Hollow’s manager and PGAprofessional Ronny Ross after the conclusion of the event. “Everything went off without a hitch. We had 94 kids from all overthe state and Louisiana. We had a few good scores.”
Hood liked playing on his home course but wasn’t happy with theway he scored.
“I really liked having it here,” said Hood. “I was not reallypleased with my play. I’ve been playing pretty good overall.”
Furr also enjoyed playing at home.
“It was fun playing on our own home course,” said Furr. “I’veputted well all summer. It was fun to play with all our ourbuddies.”
Lott, who won first place, played with Furr in tournaments overthe summer and spent Saturday night with the Furr family.
“The kids were impressed with the golf course and the Co-Lincampus,” added Ross.
