Roy Preston Branton

Services for Roy Preston Branton, of Silver Creek, are noon onWednesday, Aug. 29, at Hepzibah Baptist Church in Silver Creek withburial in the church cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello isin charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Wednesday from 10 a.m. until noon at thechurch.

Mr. Branton, 91, died Aug. 27, 2007, at Lawrence CountyHospital. He was born on Jan. 16, 1916, to Frank Branton andLutisha Daughdrill Branton.

He was a retired mechanic and carpenter with Trailways BusLines. He was a member of Hepzibah Baptist Church and a Mason.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Grace CarterBranton; four brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors are his brother, Ray Branton, of Houston, Texas; hissisters, Nelda McPhail, of Carson, and Hazel Brady, of SilverCreek; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Carey M. White

Services for Carey M. White, of Petal, were Tuesday, Aug. 28, atMoore Funeral Chapel in Petal with burial in Sunrise Cemetery.

Mr. White, 68, died Aug. 24, 2007, at his residence.

He was a former resident of Brookhaven. He worked as a poultryinspector for the United States Department of Agriculture for over33 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member and deacon of BethelBaptist Church; a member of the Order of Eastern Star; and a 32ndDegree Mason. He served in the United States Army.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Albert and OpheliaWhite; and his brothers, Harold Ray White, Billy White and MalcolmWhite.

Survivors are his wife, Jerry K. White, of Petal; his son, ClayWhite, of Hattiesburg; his brother, Dennis White, of Brookhaven;his sister, Dena Ruth Thompson, of Brookhaven; his threegrandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
