Bogue Citto Lady ‘Cats blitz Natchez Cathedral

BOGUE CHITTO — The Bogue Chitto Lady ‘Cats scored five,first-inning runs and cruised to an 11-1 Monday victory over theNatchez Cathedral Lady Green Wave in slowpitch softball action. Thehosts led 9-1 after three innings, sparked by right-centerfielderDarcy Miller who doubled and singled.

“We hit the ball well,” said Bogue Chitto coach Scott Leggett.”We jumped out on them at the start and we played good defense,too. Cathedral hits the ball well.”

The victory avenged a 5-3 loss to Cathedral in the Bogue Chittotournament two weekends ago.

The ‘Cats finished with 7 hits but made 4 errors. Theycapitalized on 5 Cathedral errors.

Kelli Howard tripled for BC. Singles were made by Bradi Davis,Morgan Roberts, and Josie Porter.

On the mound, Blaine Myers pitched the win. She struck out 1 andwalked none.

Rachel Smilo (1 K, 4 BBs) was the losing pitcher.

Cathedral coach Pam Clayton said she was disappointed with herteam’s performance. “We didn’t come to play. My players had toomany other activities on their minds.

“When you play Bogue Chitto, you have to be focused,” she added.”bogue Chitto was ready to play and we weren’t.”

The Greenies only had 3 hits. Maddie Kirkwood, Epiphany Jacksonand Smilo singled.

In the JV game, Bogue Chitto beat Cathedral 5-2. MorganRoberts (4 Ks, 1 BB) pitched the win., Caitlin Lofton (1 K, 6 BBs)absorbed the loss.

At the plate, Adrienne Wallace, Chris May, Haley Estess,Laken Crosby and Kerri McGehee singled.

Cathedral got to 2 singles from Kimble Devening. MollyDevening and Shannon Mire singled.
