Services for Billy Joe Smith, of Brookhaven, will be held at 10a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on NatchezAvenue with burial in New Hope Church of Christ Cemetery in LincolnCounty.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Smith, 75, died Sept. 12, 2007, at Mississippi BaptistMedical Center in Jackson. He was born in Lincoln County on March11, 1932, to Jaudon Smith and Katherine Floyd Smith.

He was a a federal employee with the United States Coast andGeodetic Survey for 18 years, and a welder with Pepper’s Machineand Welding. He was a member of New Hope Church of Christ.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Montese Smith, of Brookhaven; hisdaughters, Cathie Smith, Karen Porter and husband Gary, and MelissaRushing and husband Edward, all of Brookhaven; his brothers, JimmySmith and Dean Smith, both of Brookhaven; his sisters, Mary AliceWilliams and Agnes Allgood, both of Brookhaven, and BeatriceLambert, of Jayess; his eight grandchildren and 11great-grandchildren.
