Maurice ‘Sonny’ Grant

Services for Maurice “Sonny” Grant, of Laurel, are 1 p.m.Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Life Church in Laurel with burial in UnionLine Cemetery. Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Monday from 5 until 7:30 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Grant, 75, died Sept. 16, 2007, at his residence.

Before his retirement he owned and operated Grant Fishing Toolsin Brookhaven. He served in the United States Navy during theKorean Conflict. He was a Mason and a Shriner, member of the V.F.W.and API, and board member of the Animal Rescue League. He was amember of Life Church.

Preceding him in death was his son, Ray Grant.

Survivors are his wife, Marge Grant, of Laurel; his son, TomGrant, of Jackson, Tenn.; his daughters, Debra Johnson and KathiEvans, both of Laurel; his stepson, Duane Rogers, of Brookhaven; 11grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Animal Rescue League or Life ChurchBuilding Fund.

Jessie Lee Johnson

Services for Jessie Lee Johnson, of Hazlehurst and formerly ofBrookhaven, are 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Williams MortuaryChapel with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Johnson, 84, died Sept. 13, 2007, in Hazlehurst. She wasborn on April 29, 1923. Her parents were Andrew Foote and Annie MaeFoote.

She was retired.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, HenryJohnson Sr.; her bothers Halee Foote, W.D. Foote, Johnny JamesFoote and J.C. Foote; and her sister, Annie Maude Maxwell.

Survivors are her sons, Henry Johnson, of Brookhaven, Johnny RayJohnson, of Brookhaven, and LaRon Sanders, of Hazlehurst; hersister Alice Maxwell, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; 12great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; herstepchildren, Ruth Webster, Gustavia Carter and Charlie Johnson,all of Brookhaven.

James ‘Ladell’ Norton

Services for James “Ladell” Norton, of Wesson, are 11 a.m.Tuesday, Sept. 18 at Harrigill Funeral Home with burial in SuttonCemetery in Bogue Chitto.

Visitation is Monday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Norton, 43, died Sept. 15, 2007, at his residence. He wasborn in Brookhaven on June 27, 1964, to David Russell Norton, ofBrookhaven, and Betty Jo Bailey Norton, of Wesson.

He was a commercial truck driver for Exel Trucking Co. He was amember of Sylvarena Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were one sister, Betty Denise Norton, andone brother, David Juadon Norton.

Survivors are his parents; his daughter, Rachel Denise Norton,of Wesson; two brothers, Nickie Russell Norton, of Wesson, andRobert Ernest Norton, of Slidell, La.
