Lions Club eyes better vision with student sight screenings

Each year the Lions Club gives the community the chance to seethings a little more clearly – literally.

This week, local club members are conducting basic sightscreening at area schools and will wrap the week up at Radio Shackon Saturday with a complimentary screening for anyone who might beinterested.

Noon Lions Club President Danny Crozier said the objective ofthe project is to test people for sight impairments and to referthem to an eye doctor if need be.

“As a civic club, part of our fundraising is to help withfinancial assistance for vision care when people need assistance,”he said. “We’ve done this for many years, and what we do is we gointo schools and test children in first through fourth grade. It’sjust a basic screening process to look for weaknesses in theirvision.”

Crozier said if any problem is found in a child’s sight, theschool nurse is informed. From there the parents are called.
