BAKER, La. — Brookhaven Academy met the Central Private Rebelsin what most believed would be a high-scoring shootout between thetwo teams. But when all was said and done, the Rebels squeezed outa 12-6 overtime win in a defensive struggle. Rebel quarterbackCorey Santangelo scored on a fourth-and-goal from the one-yard lineat the end of overtime to take the win for the Rebels.

Brookhaven started out the game and led fans to believe that itwould be a good night for the Cougars as it took just five playsand 1:52 off the game clock for Corey Dickerson to score on a 42yard run to give Brookhaven a 6-0 lead.

The Cougars were able to put the ball in the end zone two moretimes in regulation, but untimely penalties brought the touchdownsback, and allowed the Rebels to make their way back in to thegame.

Brookhaven carried their 6-0 lead in to the locker rooms forhalftime, but on the first drive of the second half, CentralPrivate put together and 85 -yard drive and used up 7:42 off thegame clock before Bobby Muse scored on a 10 yard run. The two-pointconversion attempt failed, knotting the game at 6-6.

Both teams had chances to win the game late in the fourthquarter, but turnovers and penalties forced the overtimeperiod.
