Smith makes large impact as a runner

Brookhaven sophomore tailback Semmie Smith has become an impactplayer for the Panthers this season. Smith (5-10, 170) rushed 21times for 206 yards and scored 2 touchdowns in Brookhaven’s 20-12win over the Mendenhall Tigers. The touchdowns were on runs of 12and 31-yards.
For his accomplishments, Smith has been named The DAILY LEADER’sOffensive Player of the Week.
“Semmie has a lot of speed,” said Brookhaven head football coachTucker Peavey. “He’s strong and fast. He’s just a sophomore. He’slearning and getting better every week.”
Smith said he appreciated the recognition.”It feels good, reallygood” smiled Smith.
When asked about his own performance this year, Smith said hisbest game was against Mendenhall.
