Blood services always needing donors

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Bateman Stilleydidn’t even flinch as Mississippi Blood Services haemoneticstechnician Amanda McDonald put the needle in his arm in the MBS vanFriday afternoon.
“I think everyone should give blood,” said the deputy. “It’s agreat way to help people.”
Stilley has seen many tragic car accidents and natural disastersin his time as an officer of the law. He explained that taking afew minutes out of a busy day to give blood can help save lives inmany different situations.
“Blood services needed help during the hurricane, and whilewe’re almost out of hurricane season, there can still be tornadoesand other disasters,” he said. “It’s never good to have ashortage.”
MBS Supervisor Willie Reynolds agreed. He said the shelves inJackson now are much more bare than he’s comfortable with.
