Bogue Chitto climbs to 6-0

STRINGER — The Bogue Chitto Bobcats overcame three turnoversFriday night and secured a key 40-28 Region 4-1A win over theStringer Red Devils to remain undefeated in six games. The Bobcatsare 6-0 in the region and Stringer is 2-3.

“We did everything we could to give it to them,” said BogueChitto head football coach Gareth Sartin. “We had two fumbles theyturned into touchdowns. We have to cut out our mistakes withfumbles and penalties.” One penalty was a motion call against theBobcats that nullified a touchdown.

Bobcat junior quarterback Seth Avants had an exceptional night.Avants rushed the football 23 times for 178 yards and for 4touchdowns. He completed 2 of 4 passes for 36 yards.

Stringer struck at the 11-minute mark in the first quarter on a22-yard pass-play from Cole Walters to Andrew Pierce. Pierce kickedthe extra point and the Red Devils led 7-0.

Bogue Chitto responded with 3 touchdowns to take a 20-7 lead atthe end of the first quarter. Donyea Dillon scored the first TD ona 20-yard run. Avants followed with runs of 10 and 15 yards for thenext touchdowns. Fred Tillman kicked 2 out of 3 extra points.
