Lady ‘Cats eliminate Puckett

PUCKETT — The Bogue Chitto Lady ‘Cats eliminated the PuckettLady Wolves Tuesday in the opening round of the Class 1A stateslowpitch softball playoffs. They posted 2-1 and 5-2 victories
Bogue Chitto (16-12) hosts Sebastopol Saturday in the secondround, beginning at 2 p.m. Sebastopol (24-2) defeated Weir 2-0 and9-2 in the first round Tuesday.
Blaine Myers (14-10) was the winning pitcher in the series.Absorbing the loss was Kayla Christman (17-11).

In the opener, the ‘Cats held the Wolves hitless. Bogue Chittoracked up 12 hits. Each team committed an error.
“We hit the ball OK, but didn’t do a good job of scoring ourrunners,” said Bogue Chitto head coach Scott Leggett. “Our defenseplayed a great game. We took away several balls that could havebeen hits. This was the first no-hitter I’ve ever been involved inwith slowpitch.”
