Kenneth F. Oliver

Services for Kenneth F. Oliver, of Monticello, will be held at11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, at Bethel Baptist Church in Monticellowith burial in the church cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home inMonticello is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Oliver, 73, died Oct. 10, 2007, at Mississippi BaptistMedical Center in Jackson. He was born on July 20, 1934, to LeslieOliver and Theresa Bullock Oliver.

He was retired from his job as parts manager with Jolly Ford inMonticello. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He wasveteran of the United States Army.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, DarrellOliver; two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors are his wife, Opal Oliver, of Monticello; his son,David Oliver and wife Lisa, of Monticello; his daughter, DebbieLetchworth and husband Chuck, of Oakvale; his sister, CarolynWatson, of Slaughter, La.; and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Halland Caitlin Oliver, both of Monticello, Allison Letchworth, ofHattiesburg, and Dusty Letchworth, of Oakvale.

Services for Joe Ann Yvonne “Mama Joe” Thurman, of Madison, willbe held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Riverwood Family FuneralService Chapel with burial in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery inMonticello.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Thurman, 71, died Oct. 11, 2007, at Hospice Ministries inRidgeland. She was born on Sept. 4, 1936, to Hulen Thames and JanieBallard Thames.

She was a seamstress. She was a member of New Hope BaptistChurch in Lawrence County.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers BlackieThames, Howard Thames and Melvin Thames; her sisters, JennelleSummersgile and Vernell Thames.

Survivors are her sons, Allen Thurman, Jeff Thurman and RickeyThurman; her daughters, Glinda Hale and Susan Parker; her brother,Shelton Thames; her sister, Huley Jones; her 10 grandchildren andfive great-grandchildren.
