Dorothy ‘Dot’ McGraw Renfroe

Services for Dorothy “Dot” McGraw Renfroe, of Jayess, will beheld at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Divide Methodist ProtestantChurch in Monticello with burial in the Divide Cemetery. WilsonFuneral Home in Monticello is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Renfroe, 75, died Oct. 14, 2007, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center in McComb.

She was born on Aug. 26, 1932, in Lincoln County to Estus “Es”McGraw and Hettie Mae Kyzar McGraw. She left Lincoln County toreside in Lawrence County, where she lived for the remainder of herlife. She was the beloved wife of Robert Renfroe since 1948.

She and her husband owned Renfroe’s Food Store on Highway 27,south of Monticello, for many years. In her youth, she was employedwith Kellwood at the old garment plant in front of the LawrenceCounty Hospital in Monticello. She drove a school bus for 14 yearsunder the supervision of James Hill, for Topeka-Tilton School.After two retirements, she still wanted to be around people, so shebecame a site manager for the Southwest Mississippi Planning andDevelopment District in Jayess, where the senior citizens of thecommunity gathered for lunch each day. They were always happy tohear what Dot had to tell them and they enjoyed each other’scompany. She was a very active, fun person to be around and mademany friends with laughter, love and kindness. Everyone felt herlove when they were around her. She was the devoted mother of threechildren and was honored as “Mother of the Year” in Lawrence Countyin the 90s. She was a member of Divide Methodist ProtestantChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brother, CharlesMcGraw, of Lincoln County; her father-in-law, Roy Renfroe; and hermother-in-law, Mattie Tullis-Renfroe, of Renfroe Valley.

Survivors are her husband of 59 years, Robert Jewell Renfroe, ofJayess; her sons, Robert Wayne Renfroe and wife Cindy King Renfroe,of the Divide community, Royce Jay Renfroe and wife Margie LambertRenfroe, of Renfroe Valley; her daughter, Laraine Renfroe Bristerand husband Bill C. Brister, of Renfroe Valley; her sister, JaniceMcGraw Fuller, of Ruth; her grandchildren, Jason Wayne Renfroe andMiranda Renfroe Cothern; and her great-grandchildren, IsabellaMarie Cothern and Hunter Layne Cothern.
