Kate Smith Riley

Kate Mary Smith Riley, 84, died at Siena Center at St. Catherine’sVillage in Madison, on Friday, Nov. 2, 2007. Wilson Funeral Home inMonticello is handling arrangements.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, Nov. 4, from 6until 9 p.m., and on Monday, Nov. 5, from 9 until 10 a.m.immediately prior to the funeral services at 11 a.m. at theMonticello United Methodist Church.

Kate was born on March 27, 1923 in Monticello to Elsie Mae Robbinsand Elbert Smith. She had spent the last three years living inCampbell Grove and later Siena Center. Prior to that, she had spentmost of the rest of her life in Monticello.

Kate was a faithful church member and a devoted wife and mother.She was a lifelong active member of the Monticello United MethodistChurch, where she for some years played the piano or organ forSunday church services. She was a pillar of strength to her familythroughout her life, morally and spiritually. Kate spent the last25-plus years of her working life at the paper mill in Monticello,beginning when construction was first started on the mill andcontinuing until she retired in 1988.

Kate was married to the late Rodney Marshall Riley of New Hebron.In addition to her husband, mother, and father, she was preceded indeath by her grandparents, Ike H. Smith and Pearl Beasley Smith, ofMonticello. She is survived by her daughter, Marsha Riley Ray andhusband David, of Raymond; her son, Rodney Marshall Riley Jr. andwife Lauretta, of Tylertown; her granddaughter, Julie Amanda RileyRiemann and husband Kyle; and her great-granddaughter, Riley LaneRiemann, of Brandon. Other survivors include her brother, RalphSmith and wife Betty, of Brookhaven; her sister, Nell Eley andhusband John, of Terry; her sister, Sara Jones and husband Lovie,of Bude; and her brother Jerry Smith and wife Ann, of Abbeville,La.

Samuel Henry Lee Wooten

Services for Samuel Henry Lee Wooten, of Brookhaven, will be heldat 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel,Jackson Street location, with burial in New Prospect Baptist ChurchCemetery.

Infant Wooten was born and died on Oct. 31, 2007, at SouthwestMississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb.

Preceding him in death was his great-grandfather, GordonWooten.

Survivors are his mother, Jessy Loren Wooten; his grandmother,Angela Cartwright Lacking; his grandfather and step-grandmother,Samuel and Jennifer Wooten, all of Brookhaven; hisgreat-grandparents, Jesse and Peggy Cartwright, of Summit, HelenWooten, and Ron and Bonnie Turner, all of Brookhaven; hisgreat-great-grandmother, Lorena Wooten, of Brookhaven; his uncles,Kai Cartwright, Chance Lacking, Jaydan Lacking, Keith Jent, andTrae Wooten, all of Brookhaven; his aunt, Alayna Wooten, ofBrookhaven; and his special friends, John Felder, of Bogue Chitto;Alex Bozeman, of Brookhaven; and Derrick Lewis, of BogueChitto.
