Cathedral’s Green Wave drowns W. Lincoln Bears

NATCHEZ — The Natchez Cathedral Green Wave missed the Class 1 Afootball plays but finished the season on a winning note afterbeating the winless West Lincoln Bears 42-7 Friday night in theseason finale for both teams.

West Lincoln, coached by Brooks Burns, finished 0-11 overall and0-10 in Region 4-1A play. Cathedral, coached by Craig Beesley,improved to 4-6 in the region and on the season.

Cathedral led 28-0 at halftime.

The Bears got on the board early in the fourth quarter on a 17-yardrun by Calvin Kees. Tyler Trout kicked the extra point.

West Lincoln’s ground game was directed by Cardell Porter with 15carries for 50 yards. Jamie Rushing followed with 13 carries for 78yards. Making 13 carries for 48 yards was Kees. Jeremy Byrd rushed7 times for 25 yards.

Byrd completed 1 of 6 passes, including an 11 -yard pass to DeePrice.

Defensively, Kolby Burris led the Bears with 11tackles, including 9 solos. Jamie Rushing collected 9 tackles,including 4 solos. Making 8 stops, including 5 solos, wasPorter.
