FC girls rip Tylertown

TYLERTOWN -Give Karlee Mullins four shots and she’s bound toknock them all in. Thursday nigh, the Franklin County sub-freshmendid so, as her Lady Bulldogs beat Tylertown 10-0. Mullins scoredfour goals and had two assists, in what was the debut of theTylertown’s new soccer program and field.

“We played an awesome game and made some big plays,” said FChead coach Ben Yarbrough, who is assisted by Amanda Upton. “KarleeMullins really stepped up and had an awesome game.”

The Lady Dawgs (3-3, 1-0) got all four goals from KarleeMullins, a sub-freshmen 8th grade standout in the first half.Junior Kate Brasher added a netter before halftime, to give FC acommanding 5-0 lead.

Tylertown, which was playing its first soccer game in its schoolhistory, was no match for the Franklin County crew. In the secondhalf, the Lady Bulldogs got two goals from sophomore standout AprilWatson, and added goals from Hope Shell, Regan Scott, and KristinOglesby.

“I’m proud of how my girls played,” added Yarbrough. “It was atotal team effort tonight. We played hard.”

Freshmen goalie Haley Netherland secured the shutout, whileBrasher added three assists and junior Courtney Reid two assists.Mullins also provided two assists.

“Karlee (Mullins) had an awesome game,” said Yarbrough. “Herfour goals set the tone. Haley (Neatherland) played a great game atgoalie, Kate (Brasher) and Courtney (Reid) did a super job settingthings up.”

The Bulldogs set numerous school-records in the game, for mostgoals scored in a contest (10) and goals scored by differentplayers (6).

“We dominated,” added Yarbrough. “Hopefully this win will get usgoing, we’ve been looking for a spark.”

Franklin County will resume play Tuesday at Crystal Springs,beginning at 5:00 p.m.
